CHANEL N°5
Aromatic masterpiece and timeless icon, the Chanel No. 5 was crafted by perfumer Ernest Beaux in 1921 on Coco Chanel’s demand. After being asked to create a unique perfume at the image of Coco Chanel’s avant garde and provocative vision, Ernest Beaux presented to her a series of samples numbered from 1 to 5 and 20 to 24. According to the myth, the concoction was actually the result of a laboratory mistake. Beaux's assistant had added a dose of aldehyde in a quantity never used before. The scent, imbued with jasmine, rose, sandalwood and vanilla, was an instant success, partly due to some of Coco's ingenious marketing tricks. It remains to this day one of the most iconic perfumes of all time and has stayed a symbol of elegance and sophistication.
