HAS ROCKSTAR DNA
Who is Devon Ross?
This chick exudes beauty and creativity – unsurprising when you learn she’s the daughter of a former top model and Craig Ross (the lead guitarist in Lenny Kravitz’s band). When you first meet Devon, you can imagine the world she grew up in, one that’s shaped her path and given her a “cool factor” that feels authentic, like it’s built into her DNA.
Devon has been modeling since she was a teenager and playing music since she was a child, she has worked with the likes of Gucci, Valentino and Simone Rocha. She always wanted to dip into acting, and she recently landed the part of Regina in HBO’s new mini-series Irma Vep.

Irma Vep was your first acting job and you got to walk the red carpet in Cannes. How did that feel?
It was amazing, also very rare that I got to go to Cannes for my first acting project ever, it was very surreal. I still have so much to learn and experience in this business, I’m excited to dive into acting more.
-
Will you continue modeling or focus more on acting?
I definitely want to focus on acting, but fashion is always going to play a part in my life. I’m a fashion girl at heart, but I’ve been doing it since I was a teenager and now it’s great to be learning a new craft. Modeling is a lot like acting especially with the photo shoots and press so I’m glad I have that background. With modeling you still have to play the character and sell the product. You can’t just sit there; you have to play a part.
-
You filmed in Paris for five months. How did you like it?
I’ve been working in Paris since I was about eighteen. I was always going back and forth with modeling and fashion week. I was also going there often with my parents when I was growing up. We started filming in June so we were there through the summer, we would go to the south of France on weekends, It was such a dream! I did everything I would do if I lived in Paris, we found amazing restaurants and went often to Chez Janou, the place is classic. We went to friends’ apartments, in the summer everyone is just hanging out, I never got bored for sure.
-
Your character in Irma Vep, Regina is a cinephile. She’s brutally honest, witty, stylish. Did you find yourself relating to her?
I definitely did! We are pretty similar, I’m obsessed with music like she is obsessed with film, I could talk about music all day. She constantly butts in with facts about film, I’m kind of like that with music, I’m a music know it all. Olivier (the director) is very in tune with fashion and music, he knew this was important to me and he gave me a lot of the freedom with her look.

You grew in a rockstar world, with a solid musical backdrop. Has this influenced your musical path?
Absolutely, 100%! I grew up with music, my sister and I would go on tour, every summer we were homeschooled, we lived a very hippy lifestyle. We had good music playing in the house all the time, I didn’t even know the names of the bands, I just knew all the songs.
-
Where does your musical path lie today?
I have been playing with my friend Camille Jansen, we just made a record together and it will be coming out this year. I’m also starting my own project, it’s very early stages and we don’t even have a name yet. I play guitar and sing, I’d like a four piece, that’s ideal to me. I really like the band vibe where more than one person sings, but, yeah, I want to sing. I’m going to be the lead woman!
