THE KUNSTHAUS ZÜRICH IN 2025: A YEAR OF CONTRASTS AND INNOVATIONS

In 2025, the Kunsthaus Zürich presents an exhibition programme that embraces contradictions and explores new ways of appreciating art. It focuses on moments when art surprises us, invites us to think beyond boundaries and unlocks new worlds of perception. The Kunsthaus Zürich showcases projects that are unique worldwide: exhibitions and installations that open up new perspectives on every viewing and foster experiences that go beyond conventional formats. At the heart of the Chipperfield garden, a walk-through sculpture by Monster Chetwynd will be the center point for interactions. The installation will be brought to life by a range of actions and interventions throughout the year. Then the work of Refik Anadol will transport the Kunsthaus Zürich into the world of artificial intelligence and Big Data. In ‘Glacier Dreams’ (2023), he transforms thousands of images of glaciers into a captivating digital landscape that brings home with striking clarity the reality of climate change. This immersive installation offers a multi-sensory experience that is both emotional and intellectual. Finally, the successful ‘ReCollect!’ series will invite contemporary artists to engage with the Kunsthaus’s historical collection and reinterpret it in their own unique way, opening up new vistas, critically interrogating and reshaping the established canon. 2025 sees a new and exceptional episode in the series, as the German artist Wolfgang Laib, who is known for his use of natural materials such as pollen and wax, enters into an exciting dialogue with the collection. Projects such as these exemplify the innovative spirit of the Kunsthaus Zürich, where 2025 will uphold familiar artistic traditions while breaking new ground in art education.
